How do you reduce Your bills and save Electricity?

Sick of high electricity bills? Here’s how to use less power and keep more money in your pocket.

1. Avoid Peak Hours

Power costs more during peak hours when everyone’s using it. Save cash by using big appliances like your washing machine or AC outside these times.

Mepco Peak Hours Detail here:

  • December to February: 5 pm to 9 pm
  • March to May: 6 pm to 10 pm
  • June to August: 7 pm to 11 pm
  • September to November: 6 pm to 10 pm

2. Turn off unused devices

Stuff like chargers, TVs, or fans uses power even when you’re not using them. Unplug them or switch them off to cut down on your units consumed. It’s an easy way to lower your bill.

3. Energy saver

Swap out old bulbs for fluorescent lamps or LEDs. They use way less Electricity and last longer. You can find them in any, and they’ll save you money every month.

4. Use a DC inverter air conditioner

DC inverter ACs are great for hot places like Bahawalpur or Lodhran. They adjust to the room’s temperature so they don’t waste power. It’s a smart pick for staying cool without a huge bill.

Install TOU Meter

TOU (Time-of-Use) meter offers consumers the option to pay different rates of Electricity for peak and off-peak hours. They provide an opportunity to save money by using high-voltage appliances during off-peak hours when rates are low.

TOU meter offers two rates; mainly, one is for top peak hours from 6 pm to 10 am daily, and the other is for off-peak hours during all other times. By using the major appliances during the off-peak hours, you can take advantage of lower rates and reduce your monthly bill.

After installing the TOU meter, your electricity usage becomes more cost-effective. Then, you can plan your major and daily activities to minimize during these 3-4 peak hours. Consumers can achieve a 10 to 15% saving on their electricity bill.

Extension in the MEPCO Online Bill Due Date

Normally, it happens that sometimes customers forget to pay their bill on the due date. Due to the late, there is a penalty from the MEPCO to pay the extra amount as a late bill payment surcharge.

Want to save with solar power? A green meter lets you track Electricity from your solar panels. It’s perfect for homes or shops and works with MEPCO’s net metering program. Apply at the Mepco site or your nearest MEPCO office.

How Net Metering Works

Net metering means you can make your own Electricity with solar panels and send any extra to MEPCO’s grid. Your green meter keeps tabs on what you use and what you give back, lowering your bill. If you make more power than you need, MEPCO credits your account for later.

Benefits of Net Metering:

  • Smaller electricity bills
  • Credits for the extra power you make
  • Good for the environment
  • Works in towns

To sign up, bring your CNIC and proof that you own the property to an MEPCO office or apply online.
